Hello everyone. Gretchen and I will be monitoring and responding to as many as questions as possible in the chat during the webinar.

01:17:33
Thank you, So true!

01:17:33
Thank you Tom

01:22:48
Why can't documented simulation occurring before Jan 1, 2020 be counted toward hours for students graduating this year????

01:22:52
Thanks Tom for emphasizing the 12 month equivalent description. The key for programs will be to look across their 3 or 4 year The program to reach that 12 month equivalent under CAA audiology standards. Some programs may be looking at the externship only. (Nancy Alarcon, CAA 2020 Chair)

01:22:56
Hello = Would it be possible to get these presentations to share with the rest of our faculty? Thanks Saravanan

01:23:23
Wendy - it was not permitted in the 2012 Audiology Standards.

01:23:36
The meeting is being recorded and will be available shortly after the call.

01:23:57
It will be on www.asha.org/certification in the "COVID" header

01:23:58
If telesupervision is allowed now, why not continue that past August?

01:30:32
The State Affairs team within the Government Affairs and Public Poliby Cluster is the best team to reach out to with specific state licensing questions at states@asha.org.

01:31:13
For insurance/reimbursement questions, contact the Health Care and Education Policy team at reimbursement@asha.org.

01:33:58
Can you please give a confirmation: (1) can a student graduate if they have not achieved the 1820 hours? and (2) can hours towards certification be obtained post-certification?

01:34:50
CAA standards require 12-months of supervised clinical experience for graduation, which is at least 1,820 hours.

01:35:06
For questions related to infection control protocols and PPE

01:35:12
Is it correct that clinical simulation was allowed for SLP prior to Jan 1, 2020, but not Audiology?

01:36:24
Jayme - that is correct. In 2016, the SLP certification standards allowed for up to 75 hours of clinical simulations. The audiology committee did not feel comfortable permitting it for audiology certification until earlier this year.

01:36:47
It was a permanent change to the standards and not a change made as a result of COVID-19.

01:37:05
And is that podcast on the same page?

01:37:25
Thank you!!

01:37:44
And when did that go into effect?

01:37:55
January 2020

01:38:39
The podcasts and resources are all available on the CAPCSD website at https://www.capcsd.org/covid-19/

01:38:56
Todd: Jan 1 2020?

01:39:12
Can the students submit CCC-A application prior to degree bring conferred if they have completed all hours and met all standards?

01:39:20
Can we count simulation hours that were completed prior to Jan 1, 2020?

01:40:00
Applicants can apply once all academic and practicum are completed. Certification wouldn't be awarded until the degree is conferred thought.

01:40:36
Is there special documentation required for students who use clinical simulations toward their clinical hours? And are these hours considered to be supervised by a CCC-A clinician?

01:41:43
No special request/documentation is needed to use clinical simulations. The experience needs to be under a CCC-A for it to count towards the certification requirement. It does not need to be under a CCC-A for the CAA/graduation

01:43:22
What about all the hours obtained prior to January 1 2020 where CCC preceptors did not yet have 2 hours of supervision training. If we are grandfathering those hours why not simulated hours?

01:44:22
Jayme - that requirement only pertains to experiences earned on or after 1/1/2020. Experiences prior to 2020 are not subject to that requirement

01:46:59
Does the ratio of student:supervisor need to be 1:1 for simulated hours or can it be 4:1 for example?

01:47:31
In the interest of expanding opportunities to obtain clock hours for students - can students who conduct hearing measures in a research environment, under supervision of a CCC-A researcher, accrue clock hours for this work?

01:56:25
Thank you Tom and Gretchen. We'll be responding to accreditation questions as we move forward. We encourage everyone to send their questions and ideas to us at accreditation@asha.org
